Blending intellectual discourse with the expressive power of performance, the lecture performance transcends conventional genres and spatial boundaries, drawing new audiences into the theatre while encouraging them to carry the experience into their everyday lives. As Taiwan’s first large-scale lecture performance, this production adopts a tone of absurd, self-deprecating humour to portray the identity of the country’s so-called “loser generation.” It explores how those weighed down by personal and emotional setbacks might discover their own “rock-and-roll moment”—a flash of inspiration that makes it possible to rise against the odds and find a place to stand in the world.

Conceived by Dr. Lee Ming-tsung, who had just founded our company at the time, together with Golden Bell Award-winning screenwriter Wu Lo-ying, the production was created in collaboration with a young cross-disciplinary performance ensemble. Through an inventive fusion of lectures, short plays, recitation, dance, and music, it leads audiences back and forth between others and themselves, lived reality and fictional narratives.
